The following are the terms and conditions that apply to orders placed with Cabbage and Curtainrail. 



Fabric Information
It is a characteristic of natural textiles that there will be variations in the weave, colour and texture including occasional slubs and, as such, claims for irregularities will not be accepted under any circumstances.

We recommend that all our fabrics are dry cleaned only. 

The main disadvantage of linen and linen union is that they are easily creased and needs to be handled with care during the making of curtains and blinds.

There is a 1 metre minimum order length for fabric.

Ultraviolet rays from the sun create a break in the chemical bonds, which in turn causes fading. Blues are reds especially vulnerable.  Natural fibres have a greater chance of fading than synthetic fibres which hold the dye better.  No matter what you are purchasing, if it has colour pigments it will fade.  We advise that all our fabrics should be lined and interlined for curtaining windows.

Our fabrics are not fire retardant, however we can easily arrange this for you if required.

Quality Control
Horizontal patterns are printed and sold with a commercial tolerance for straightness. Although every effort is made to have horizontal designs running true, a commercial tolerance of 2% which equates to 2.8cm across the width of cloth (taking into consideration cloth width is 140cm) is deemed acceptable.

Colour Matching

To ensure exact colour matching it is advised to order quantities required for future use at one time.

We cannot guarantee that the sample you are sent will match your final order.  We advise you order
an up to date sample near to purchase to check that the colours are still satisfactory for your project.


We strongly recommend that you request a swatch to be sent to you to check the colour, design, scale of pattern and suitability, before ordering your fabric.  We are happy to provide up to 4 swatches free (postage & packaging is £1.50 for the UK including Northern Ireland, the Scottish highlands, Islands, Isle of Man, Scilly and Channel Isles.

For trade customers only, larger returnable samples of approx. half a metre long can be ordered.
A charge of £24 each is made for these and this will be refunded as long as the sample is received back in good condition within 28 days of order. Please email us if you require a returnable sample.

Returns, Refunds and Faulty fabric
Please check your fabric for faults before cutting. If the fabric has been cut and made up and a fault is then found we cannot issue a refund.  Please inform us of any faults within 28 days from the date of purchase.  We are unable to offer refunds on our cushions or any bespoke item.

Delivery & Returns

If your order is for one metre it will be folded and sent as a ‘signed-for’ at £4.95

2+ metres: £15 sent on a roll

Delivery times are estimated and are not guaranteed however we will do our utmost to ensure goods are delivered within 7-10 days. We will advise lead time at the time of order if the fabric is out of stock (this is usually 4-6 weeks from receipt of order).  We will make every effort to keep you informed of any delays should they arise; however we are not liable for the consequence of any delay. 

Damaged Goods/ Loss in transit

It is the buyer’s responsibility to check for any damages to packing materials and product before accepting delivery of the products, and to report any damage by the delivery company within 48 hours. In the unlikely event that there is any damage, please DO NOT accept delivery, DO NOT sign the delivery sheet; instead ask the driver for a damaged freight report which will need your signature. Goods are not covered by transit insurance once you have accepted delivery.


All goods are supplied by Cabbage and Curtainrail on the strict condition that our liability for any fault or defect in the quality, condition, description or fitness for any purpose is limited in amount to a sum not exceeding the purchase price of the particular goods. It is your responsibility to check that you have received the correct order before further processing or passing on to a third party.
